Prenzlauer Berg was largely spared from the Second World War, but in 1961 the wall suddenly separated the district from its neighbor Wedding and the beautiful residential area was neglected for a long time. Not least due to the structural decline, Prenzlauer Berg recorded a rapid decline in population immediately after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
